Kalimpong District crosses 2 lakh voters


After the imposition of Code of Conduct, it was known from the District Magistrate, Dr. Viswanath that Kalimpong District has 2,03,332 voters.

Out of the total, there are 1,12,086male voters while there are 1,02,034 female voters and 02 third gender voters.

It was also informed that there are 261 polling booths under Kalimpong District Administration. There are 11 polling booths at far-flung places which are officially termed as P-2 polling booth, with 7 in Kalimpong block and 4 in Gorubathan Block.

There are 49 Sectors, with 22 in Kalimpong-I, 15 in Block II and 12 in Gorubathan Block.

“The notification will be issued on 19th March and the last date of filing nomination is on 26 March, the Scrutiny of nominations is on 27th March, while the last date of withdrawal of the candidate is on 29th March,” said Dr. Viswanath who also said that the administration is ready for the elections.

The police S.P later said that they have been following all the instructions of the Election Commission.

“We have been doing everything mandated by the election commission, we are sending the weekly reports, also, the general law and order situation is peaceful as of now,” said the Superintendent of Police,DhurvaJyoti De.
