GANGTOK, 13 Mar:
Four regional parties of Sikkim have come together to form the Sikkim Progressive Alliance to contest the upcoming assembly and parliamentary elections in the State. The alliance was formed during a meeting of the four regional parties held in the capital today.
The meeting, which was chaired by Sikkim SangramParishad president and former LokSabha MP, DilKumariBhandari, was attended by leaders and representatives from Sikkim SangramParishad, Sikkim National People’s Party, Sikkim RajyaManch and Sikkim United Front.
After thorough discussion and deliberation, all four parties decided to contest the upcoming election together under Sikkim Progressive Alliance [SPA]. The meeting has unanimously selected SRM president and Rangang-Yangang MLA, Rup Narayan Chamling as convener, SSP president, DK Bhandari as the chief advisor and SNPP president Delay NamgyalBarfungpa and SUF president NarendraAdhikari as advisors of SPA. SSP general secretary, DB Basnet has been appointed as SPA spokesperson.
It is informed that SPA will soon announce its list of candidates for the election.
