Joseph Lepcha receives journalism award from MFI Samay Dainik feted as Best Regional Language Newspaper of Sikkim

Gangtok, 14 Mar: 

Senior journalist and Press Club of Sikkim president, Joseph Lepcha, was today conferred with the ‘Best Journalist of the Year [Sikkim]’ by Media Federation of India [MFI]. Likewise, Nepali daily, Samay Dainik, has been awarded the ‘Best Regional Language Newspaper [Sikkim]’ award, which was received by Samay Dainik editor, Dilli Ram Dulal.

The awards function was held at Andhra Pradesh Bhawan in New Delhi on Wednesday evening with has Major General [retd] PK Sehgal as the chief guest along with MFI national president Arun Sharma, and senior vice-president, Ashish K Singh, among other dignitaries.

MFI has units in more than 22 States and has more than 15,000 members.

Joseph Lepcha was born to Manuel and Martha Lepcha on 14 Feb, 1972, at Rabongla in South Sikkim. He started his career in journalism with the  Nepali weekly, Swatantra Manch, in 1991 and has also worked at Yugdhara and then in a Hindi daily Janpat, Bharat Darpan, Prajashakti and Samay Dainik and is currently the Sikkim correspondent of Dainik Jagaran.  

Apart from journalism, Mr Lepcha is active in social, cultural and literary activities and has already been feted with many awards.
