Will seize property of the corrupt and deposit Rs 5 lakh into people’s bank accounts: Golay


Gangtok, 17 Mar:

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president, PS Tamang [Golay], today announced names of nine candidates in the party’s first official list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in the State. He announced these names at a public meeting held at Hee Gaon under Maneybong-Dentam constituency in West Sikkim on Sunday.

Both the sitting MLAs of the party, Kunga Nima Lepcha from Syari, and Sonam Lama for the Sangha, feature in the first list and will return to contest from their existing constituencies.

While no candidate was named for the constituency where today’s meeting was held, two candidates have been announced for West Sikkim. Sangay Lepcha will get the SKM ticket from Yuksom-Tashiding constituency while MN Sherpa will contest from Daramdin.

In East Sikkim, Dr MK Dhakal has been named the SKM candidate for Khamdong-Singtam with Mr Lepcha returning to Shyari constituency.

RK Basnet will contest from Rangyang-Yangang and Ganesh Rai from Namchi-Singithang in South Sikkim.

In North Sikkim, Chungkipu Lepcha has been named the SKM candidate for Dzongu while Sandup Lepcha will contest from Lachen- Mangan.

An SKM press release informs that supporters of different political parties and members of different organisations officially joined SKM at the meeting today. Among them were government contractor NB Dahal from Gyalshing, Kaushal Lohagun from Zoom-Salghari, KB Rai from Namchi-Singhithang, Hamro Sikkim Party vice-president and West District president Indra Hang Subba, former bureaucrat DB Rai, independent panchayat from Rangang Yangyang, Sukh Hang Subba, SRM party cheli convener, Dikila Bhutia and women welfare president Sangay Doma Tamang and 94 families led by former panchayat Ram Hang Subba and 747 families from other constituencies.

In his address, the SKM president, PS Tamang, lashed out against the SDF and accused it of many failings.

He asked the people to give five years to SKM to serve them in office and its government will deposit Rs 5 lakh in every Sikkimese’s bank account by seizing the properties of the corrupt here.

The release informs that a collection of poems, ‘Anyay Le Janmayeka Vidhro Haru,’ written by the SKM president while in jail, was also released by MLA Kunga Nima Lepcha.
