A day-long sensitization program on menstrual hygiene was organized by BAC-Pakyong in association with ESS India on 26 March, a press release informs. The sensitization program was conducted at PanchayatBhawan, Pakyong.
The program was attended by five different schools namely Dikling School, Dugalakha JHS, Raigaon JHS, Pakyong JHS, Pachey JHS. The team talked about menstrual hygiene and solid waste management which mainly included reduction in use of sanitary pads while opting for more environment friendly alternatives.
The main reason for the program was to create awareness and to break the various myths and taboos regarding menstruation, the release mentions.
The ESS members also gave some tips to the students to avoid various health issues that can occur due to the continuous usage of sanitary pads and which will also help to reduce waste so generated.
