Mangan, 27 Mar (IPR):
Training for Booth Level Officer (BLO) and volunteers on accessible election and Model Polling Stations was conducted here at the conference hall of North District Zilla Panchayat (NDZP), Mangan, today.
The training programme was attended by the State Nodal Officer for Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), PW Lepcha, Rohini Pradhan, Joint Secretary, Social Justice, Empowerment and Welfare Department cum State Nodal Officer for Accessible Election, Tashi Choden Bhutia, Joint Secretary, Office of the Chief Election Officer cum State Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Nodal Officer, SDM, Kabi cum Master Trainer Mahesh Sharma alongside 52 BLOs.
Total of 140 Students from different schools of the district have been deputed as volunteers who will volunteer People with Disabilities (PwD) on upcoming poll day. On the programme new Voter Identification Card has been dispatched to the respective BLOs and BLOs were also handed over package of T-Shirt and ID card which will be given to each volunteer. In each polling station four numbers of volunteers will be deputed to facilitate the PwD to cast their vote.
On the programme, Shri PW Lepcha explained about the accessible election. Interacting with the students he made them aware about the role and responsibilities of the volunteers who will be deputed at different polling stations on the poll day.
