Give SKM a chance and enjoy clean governance: Golay

Gangtok, 29 Mar:

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president, PS Tamang [Golay], today stressed that his party was taking the upcoming election as very important to save Sikkim and its people. He appealed to the people to give SKM five years to rid Sikkim of corruption and prove to the people that a clean and efficient government was possible.

Mr Tamang was addressing people from different constituencies of South District at a public meeting here at the Namchi Veterinary Ground today. The meeting was attended by people from Namchi-Singhithang, Poklok-Kamrang, Namthang-Rateypani and Melli constituencies of South Sikkim.

He also assured the people that all the promises made in the SKM manifesto will be delivered on and alleged that the SDF, in contrast, limits itself to just making announcements and not delivering on ground.

He assured to provide a corruption-free, transparent and clean government and administration to the people.

He accused that the SDF has been trying to lure people with money and urged the people to stay vigilant and aware and work to save Sikkim.

The SKM president also stated that the party has fielded mostly young candidates since the youth have not been given a voice for too long in Sikkim. He also assured to address the problem of water scarcity in Namchi after forming the government.

The SKM Lok Sabha candidate, Indra Hang Subba, in his address, pointed out that the only central university in the State has not been able to get its infrastructure in place due the SDF government and assured to take up the issue at the Centre if the students of Sikkim sent him to the Parliament.

He also assured to discuss issues related to Sikkim and its people in the Parliament and pursue them to their logical end.

He alleged that SDF MPs never spoke for the majority Nepali community of Sikkim in the Parliament and further assured to speak for the protection of Sikkimese Nepali in the Parliament.

Mr Subba said that SKM party would not betray the people of Sikkim and urged the people to support the party and save democracy in the State.

The meeting also addressed by SKM candidates, Ganesh Rai, KB Rai, Sanjit Kharel and Tilak Basnet.

An SKM press release informs that a total of 364 families from the SDF joined SKM during the meeting.
