After gold in Assam, Prabha gets serious about boxing



Rangpo, 31 Mar: Prabha Gajmer, a student at Sirwani Secondary School, has made her school, area and State proud by winning Gold in the B-10 weight category at the 1st BFI East Zone Sub Junior Boys and Girls Boxing Championship organised by the Golaghat District Amateur Boxing Association in association with Assam Amateur Boxing Association at Golaghat, Assam, recently. Daughter of Bhim Maya Darnal and Mohar Kumar Gajmer, Prabha is enrolled with the Singtam Boxing Club and represented Sikkim at the championship held from 24 to 27 March. In the finals, Prabha out-boxed Deepanjali Daibhari of Assam. When asked about her future plans, Prabha shares that she plans to train hard and play international matches. Her coach, Pritam Silal, has specially thanked the Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti for providing a playground to for the young pugilists to train. He shared that Samiti members and president Krishna Chhetri have consistently been very encouraging when it comes to supporting the young boxers. [SANJAY AGARWAL]
