SDF CAMPAIGN REACHES RORATHANG
Rorathang (Rhenock),02 Apr: Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front president, Pawan Chamling today said that rebellion within the party is becoming more of a challenge than winning the upcoming election.
On the fifth day of his election campaign, Mr Chamling addressed a public meeting at Rorathang in East Sikkim today. The programme was organized for three constituencies under East District, Chujachen, Rhenock and Gnathang-Machong.
The programme had the presence of SDF candidates,HemendraAdhikari, KB Rai and DT Lepcha and Lok Sabha candidate, DB Katuwal with a large number of party supporters from the three constituencies.The programme was also addressed by the MP candidate, DB Katuwal.
In his address, MrChamling said that if full tribal status is not possible then the State Government will seek Territorial Tribal status for the left out communities.
He also announced that Pakyong and Soreng will be declared as Districts within 100 days of government formation.
Mr Chamling further said that people have to vote for the party and not an individual or candidate. He urged old and new members of the party to work together in securing victory in the upcoming elections and sweeping all32 constituencies.
The party cannot provide candidature to all buthas always treated all party members equally, he stated and urged those who did not get party tickets to work hard to make SDF stronger.
The SDF president assured that the problem of inadequate drinking water in the Rorathang area and other parts of the constituency will be taken up on priority and other demands of the locality will also be fulfilled.
Slamming the opposition, Mr Chamling alleged that SKM is secretly working for BJP andtheir candidates are spreading false information amongst the public. They are misleading the business community regarding tax exemption, he said and urged all to stay away from such leaders.
Mr Chamling also assured to end the labour contract system in the State.
During his address, the SDF president expressed his sadness over the death of young social worker,NareshChettri.
Earlier, he was welcomed by first time voters of the area.
