IRB jawan drowns in Bengal

Gangtok, 22 Apr:

An IRB jawan from Sikkim who was stationed in West Bengal on election duty drowned in river Bhagirathi on Sunday. The deceased, 28-year-old MingyurTshering Lepcha was a resident of Kewzing, South Sikkim and was a constable with the 3rdIRBn.

It is learnt that on Sunday, after election duty, the deceased had gone to the riverside with four of his friends. After a while, the four friends realized that Mingyur was missing. When they could not find him anywhere, they reported the matter to the local police.

The body of the constable was retrieved from the river today.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister PawanChamling has condoled the demise of the IRB jawan.

“I am deeply saddened to know about the demise of IRBnjawanMingyurTshering Lepcha, who was drowned in the river while deployed for election duty in West Bengal.May his soul rest in peace.I also extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray that God gives them the strength to bear such a great loss,” the CM has said on his Facebook page.
