SDF to form Shanti Suraksha Committee in all constituencies
Party to have fewer office bearers, more autonomy

A high-level meeting of Sikkim Democratic Front party held today decided to form constituency level Shanti Suraksha Committees with the aim to maintain peace and security in the State. The party also decided to give more autonomy and powers to its office bearers while also deciding to bring down the number of vice presidents and general secretaries.
The meeting held here at the party Headquarter at Indira Bypass Road was chaired by SDF president and Chief Minister,Pawan Chamling.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, SDF spokesperson, KT Gyaltsen mentioned that the meeting was held after a long time due to the election process and the main purpose of the meeting was to pass the amended constitution of the party. He informed that a committee was formed to bring about various amendments and changes in the constitution of the party.
“So the CEC meeting was called and various amendments were placed before the meeting which were adopted and passed by the CEC of the party,” he informed.
Speaking on the amendments made in the constitution of the party, Mr. Gyaltsen informed that there will be fewer vice-presidents and general secretaries in the party from now on and more power will be given to them.
“The objective is to make the constitution of the party so strong that in coming days when we form the government, it will run based on the party’s ideologies,” he informed.
Mr. Gyaltsen stated that the meeting also decided to give more responsibilities to members of the party and to ensure more involvement of younger generation in the party.
On the Shanti-Suraksha Committee, he mentioned that the main purpose of members of this committee is to maintain peace and security even after the election process and to ensure that the people do not face any problem.
