Chiya Kavita discusses Chi Chimira
Gangtok, 28 Apr:
In a unique initiative under the poets’ collective, Chiya Kavita, a discussion on a collection of short stories, ChiChimira, by Nepali author, Yuva Baral, was held here at Rachna Books on Sunday.
The event, 'Chichimira Discourse', had Nepali litterateurs Sher Bahadur Karki, Prabin Rai 'Jumeli', Pempa Tamang and Sikkim University Nepali Department HoD Dr Kavita Lama on the panel.
Chichimira was released last year.
45-year-old Yuva Baral hails from Biring in East Sikkim and has several published works, short stories and poems, to his credit.
During the discussion, panelists shared their views on stories compiled in ChiChimira. They also appreciated the imagination of the author displayed in the different themes he tackles in the 17 stories in the book.
ChiChimira, they underlined, was one of the best works in Indian Nepali literature.
On the occasion, the author thanked Chiya Kavita and the panelists for their participation in the event.
Chiya Kavita coordinator, Prabin Khaling, mentioned that the event was organized when they felt the absence of a culture of discussions on a book after its publication.
