Taxi fares to STNM Hospital ratified
Gangtok, 29 Apr:
After the STNM Hospital shifted to Socheygang near Sichey earlier this year, the area, which earlier received only minimal local traffic beyond the residents, suddenly found itself in need for its own share-taxi stand and service. Although a bus service has been plied into service to the hospital, it is clearly not adequate. Now, some months since the hospital shifted, the State Transport Authority, in a notification issued today, has ratified taxi fares to the hospital from different pick-up points.
Accordingly, the rate from Ranka Stand and Burtuk Helipad to STNM Hospital has been fixed at Rs35 per passenger and from Indira By-pass and Bojoghari at Rs25 and Rs 50 respectively.
Reserving the taxi to the hospital will now cost Rs 140 from Ranka Stand [Rs 200 for double journey], Rs 100 from Indira Bye-Pass [Rs 150 for double fare], Rs 140 from Burtuk Helipad [Rs 200 for double journey] and Rs 200 from Bojoghari Phatak [Rs 300 for double journey].
The rates of the local taxis are fixed after thorough survey of the cost to give justice to both the passengers as well as to the Taxi drivers/owners, an official press release adds.
