SHSC trounces AU Raj 4-1, but beaten by Aizawl FC on goal difference

Gangtok, 07 May: Sikkim Himalayan Sports Club thrashed AU Rajasthan FC 04-01 in their third and final group match of the Hero India Junior League for u-15 players at Kolkata today. Purbanas Thatal and Anil Limboo scored two goals each for the Sikkim side. With this win, SHSC has bagged a total of seven points from two wins and one draw. Despite its strong showing, SHSC could not qualify for the next round, losing out on goal difference to Aizawl FC. Aizawl FC had also secured seven points but went past Sikkim to the next round after it humbled Maximus Prime Sports 13–0 in its final match of the league round today. SHSC coach Pranay Subba, while sharing that he and the team were disappointed over the exit, said he was proud of the boys who gave their best. “We played well in the group stage and collected two wins and one draw. It is disappointing not to qualify to the next round but the club is happy that its junior players gave a good display and also got a good exposure and experience of playing with clubs outside Sikkim. This will help them in the long run as it is important for u-15 players to play competitive matches regularly,” he said.
