Rider killed in motorcycle-Sumo collision at Sang Khola

Singtam, 12 May:

A 25-year-old was killed on the spot and his 22-year-old pillion rider grievously injured when the Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle they were riding was involved in a head-on collision with a Tata Sumo taxi vehicle here at Sang Khola this afternoon.

Ajay Rai of Nandok is reported to have died on the spot while Pabitra Basnett of Aho has suffered injuries to the head and leg and has been referred to STNM Hospital for treatment.

The driver of Tata Sumo is reported to have brought the injured to the District Hospital here himself in a GREF vehicle he flagged down after the accident. He reported to have then gone to the Singtam Police Station and given his statement and investigation is currently underway.

A tourist travelling in the Tata Sumo and the driver also sustained minor injuries in the mishap.

This was not the only accident involving a motorcycle today. At Sirwani nearby, another Bajaj Pulsar was involved in an accident, this time with a Mahindra Savari, near Sirwani. No one was thankfully injured in this accident.
