Mamring School observes Anti-Terrorism Day

Gangtok, 21 May: The NSS unit and SAATHI cell of Mamring Senior Secondary School, East, today jointly organised a special observance of Anti-Terrorism Day.

The Day is observed to remember people killed in terrorist attacks and to condemn all acts of terrorism, create awareness among staff and students to spread harmony and peace.

A speech on the importance of observing Anti-Terrorism Day was delivered by GTA, Bikash Bhattarai.

He pointed out that many countries are affected severely by terrorism.

“It's an act of cowardice that is against the constitution, democracy, established norms and peace. Terrorists mostly target crowds and innocent people and create panic among masses,” he remarked.

Vice Principal IP Khatiwara addressed the gathering sharing some valuable strategies adopted so far to combat terrorism. He stressed that no religion promotes terrorism and that terrorism knows no religion.

An oath of affirmation against terrorism was also administered to everyone present by Mr Bhattarai who is also the SAATHI Coordinator and NSS Program Officer of the school.

The program, held under the directions of the Principal, Prahlad Sharma, was attended by the staff and students of the school.
