SKM reverses North Sikkim in its favour

Gangtok, 23 May:

Sikkim KrantikariMorcha won two of the three constituencies in North Sikkim with only Dzongu being retained by Sikkim Democratic Front.

For SDF, Pintso Namgyal Lepcha won Dzongu with a comfortable 5613 votes against SKM’s Chung Kipu Lepcha who polled 2612 votes.

SKM’s Karma Loday Bhutia won KabiLungchok securing 5705 votes against the 4268 votes polled by SDF’s Ugen Nedup Bhutia. Ugen Nedup Bhutia, who was an SKM candidate in 2014, had won Kabi Lungchok with 4615 votes against 4489 polled by SDF’s TT Bhutia.

In Lachen Mangan, SKM’s Samdup Lepcha won with 3615 votes against 3031 votes received by SDF’s Tshering Wangdi Lepcha. Interestingly, in 2014 it was the other way round wherein SKM’s Samdup Lepcha had secured 2570 votes [44%] and lost to SDF’s TsheringWangdi Lepcha who had received 3127 votes.
