SKM Govt announces five-day week for government offices

The new Government led by PS Tamang (Golay) as Chief Minister has announced five-day week in Government offices wherein offices will be open from Monday to Friday. YoksumTashiding MLA, Sangay Lepcha has been selected for the post of Pro tem Speaker and is likely to be administered the oath by Governor of Sikkim on 28 May.
The new government has also decided to prepare a white paper Department wise on pending bills, fund requirements, liabilities, bank loans, revenue potential, etc.
The timing of office hours has been changed and government offices will work from 10am to 4 30pmwith the provision for half an hour lunch break from 1 to 1.30 pm.
It will be applicable to Secretariat and District Offices only. Strict action will be taken against those not found in offices after reporting for work. The Government Schools, however, will work from Monday to Friday between 10 am to 4 pm.Earlier, offices were open from 10 am to 4 pm.
This decision has been taken in order to provide “care” and “cure” to the government employees.
