Minister for Human Resource Development Department, Kunga Nima Lepcha today took the first coordination meeting of the HRDD here in the Conference Hall of the Department, a press release informs.
Addressing the meeting of the Directors, Sectional heads, heads of the Districts and other senior officers, Minister, Mr Lepcha mentioned that the priority and target sectors of the present Government are education and health. He urged upon the departmental delegates present in the meeting to join hands in this much needed change we all are aspiring for.
He also mentioned that there are many shortcomings which need to be addressed immediately. He said that the officers will be given free hand to perform and there will be no political pressure so long as one works sincerely.
Speaking on Saturdays being made holidays, Mr Lepcha said that when the Government gives some benefit, the Government expects punctuality and performance to be reciprocated by the officers, teachers and employees.
Talking about the programmes of the HRDD and centrally sponsored schemes, the Minister expressed his concern over the quality of Mid-Day Meal being served in some of the schools which needs to be improved. He expressed his happiness on knowing that being such a large Department, HRDD is performing well in several fields.
The ACS, HRDD, GP Upadhyaya gave a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the activities of all the sections of the Department.
Chairperson of the One Man Commission for Rational Deployment of Teachers in HRDD, MK Panicker, submitted his recommendations regarding the present status of excess and shortage of teachers in Sikkim and scopes for solving the problem in HRDD, the release adds.
