Gyalshing, 06 Jun [IPR]: IPR Minister LN Sharma, who also happens to be the area MLA, accompanied by DC West Karma R. Bonpo visited Pipalay Dara, Berfok, West Sikkim, where a breast-wall collapse claimed the life of Bhim Bdr. Thapa (Chettri) and injured three others Deo Pd. Rai, Sushil Sanyasi and Bashant Rai.
The Minister, in the presence of DC-West, handed over the ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the family of the deceased and ex-gratia of Rs 12,700 to the families of injured persons.
He also met the bereaved family members and assured to provide a government job to one person of the family to cope up with the loss.
Meanwhile, all the injured were forwarded to the District Hospital, Gyalshing, from where they were referred to Siliguri for the further treatment.
The district authorities have also visited the site and begun investigations into the incident and a case of Unnatural Death has been registered at the Kaluk Police Station.
