A co-ordination meeting regarding Kailash Manasarovar Yatra via Nathula, 2019 was held at the Conference Hall of New Secretariat, Tashiling, today. The meeting was chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Principal Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department,SCGupta.
The meeting was attended by Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Mr TT Bhutia, Special Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Ms Namrata Thapa, Officers from STDC, heads of the various departments of the State Government and other central organizations including BRO,ITBP, Army, Customs, MHA (Bureau of Immigration) and BSNL.
During the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary,Mr SC Gupta discussed in detail the preparedness of all the concerned government departments and other agencies for smooth conduct of the yatra. He directed the departments and the agencies involved to work in coordination for the success of the yatra. He also enquired about the basic facilities and services in details like accommodations, uninterrupted power and water supply,transport, health and communications etc.
Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, TT Bhutia in his welcome address highlighted the details of the yatra. He informed that this year 10 batches of 50 pilgrims each are scheduled for the yatra via Nathula.
He stated that from Gangtok the Kailash Manasarovar routes passes through scenic places like Tsomgu Lake and through the vast landscape of Tibetan Plateau.The duration of the yatra would be 21 days including 3 days in New Delhi for preparatory work.
The route which passes through Nathula in Sikkim is motorable and suitable for senior citizens who are unable to undertake arduous trekking, said Secretary, Mr TT Bhutia.
The HoDs present in the meeting assured to extend all possible support for the success of the Yatra.
