We have to unitedly overcome threat to Sikkim’s peace: Chamling

Gangtok, 09 Jun:

Sikkim Democratic Front president, former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, in a message to the people of Sikkim released today, has rued that the State was witnessing “lawlessness and turmoil” at present and appealed on all to unitedly overcome the threat to Sikkim’s peace and security.

Reminding people that peace was something every Sikkimese was proud of and something that his government of past 25 years had nurtured and ensured, Mr Chamling shares that this was now under threat.

His allusion is clearly to the incidents of post-poll violence targeting SDF supporters.

“I am with my beloved Sikkimey janta forever fighting for their rights; and you too have to be with us to protect our security and pride of being Sikkimese,” he writes.

He further informs that he was currently in New Delhi and has already met the Prime Minister and the Home Minister and has apprised them “about the situation in Sikkim.”

“I happy to share with you that they gave a very positive response. I will be in Delhi for a few more days, calling on other political party leaders. Once I am back to the state,I will be visiting different constituencies, meeting and interacting with them,” he concluded.
