Gangtok, 10 Jun [IPR]: A meeting chaired by Power Minister Mingma N Sherpa with officials of Power Grid Corporation was held at Jalipool Power Grid Guest House on 09 June.
The meeting, held with the objective to review and take stock of the power distribution system in the state under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission & Distribution System had the presence of Executive Director, PGCIL, NK Ohdar, Senior General Manager (Rangpo station) C Nandi, Deputy GM (Tokal station) H Jena, GM (Gangtok station) SK Purokyastha and Chief Manager (Mangan station) HP Gurung alongside engineers deputed at Power Grid Corporation.
The Minister reviewed the state of affairs of all Power Grid Corporation office set-ups based within Sikkim and thoroughly examined the project status of the ongoing projects in the state.
Similarly, assessment and compensation issues, speedy forest clearances in order to resume tower erection and transmission line work, sub-station composition and current vacancies in respective stations were discussed extensively.
The Minister also looked into the pressing demands of lack of Field Engineers required for projects across Sikkim and assured all help to resolve genuine matters in a timely manner.
He was also apprised about the structure of the High Level Implementation Committee. A second meeting with the members of the committee in the month of July to discuss the progress of work, status of work undertaken by Power Grid Corporation Sikkim will be pursued stated the Minister.
