Darj MP visits Kalimpong, assures to work diligently for the Hills

Kalimpong, 13 Jun:

Darjeeling MP Raju Bisth arrived in Kalimpong today to thanks voters here for electing him to the Lok Sabha.

Upon his arrival, Mr Bisth attended an all-party meeting attended among others by representatives from CPRM , GNLF , GJMM Bimal Faction , KKS etc.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mr Bisth expressed gratitude towards all the voters of Kalimpong.

He further informed that at today's all-party meeting, two members were selected from each party to constitute a steering committee which will decide the issue and agenda for the next 5 years.

He said that this was evidence that BJP had not crafted this alliance just to win the elections and that it was a coalition that will continue for five years.

He assured that every promise made in the elections will be delivered over the next five years. The solution for Darjeeling's problem is BJP and Narendra Modi, he claimed.

“In the election manifesto, we have written about a permanent political solution to the problem of the Hills and Scheduled Tribe status for the 11 left-out communities. GTA is not an issue for us. GTA has not fulfilled our dream. We want GTA to be dissolved,” he said while highlighting that TMC lost in the election not because of complacency, but as punishment for its atrocities.

He also clarified today that the central university for Darjeeling will come up in the Hills and not in Siliguri and informed that he has also written to the Union HRDD Ministry regarding the same.
