Gangtok, 18 June:

A section of youth appointed under the One Family One Job scheme earlier this year and recently terminated from their services returned to Tashiling Secretariat with their protest on Tuesday.

A team of their representatives met senior officials of the Department of Personnel seeking explanations for the manner in which they have been treated while the rest of the youth stayed out.

Registering their dissatisfaction with the assurances made by the department, the aggrieved ex-employees raised slogans. Later, another team of representatives met senior officials of the department again and submitted a seven-point charter of demands.

They have decided that if the department did not resolve their issues soon, then the OFOJ-affected will return with their protest.

The memorandum submitted to the State Government today has demanded immediate reappointment of the second list candidates who joined their duties before 31 May 2019, reinstatement of OFOJ employees at Forest Department whose jobs were cancelled by a DoP notification, DoP to verify OFOJ appointments with the candidates in-service without cancelling or suspending any appointment.

The memorandum has also demanded the immediate release of salaries of first and second list OFOJ employees and no further terminations.
