RKD’s here to serenade Sikkim on World Music Day

The daylong event hosted by Sikkim Pragya Prathisthan to celebrate World Music Day at Manan Kendra on 21 June is all set to go as the showstopper, Ram Krishna Dhakal, arrived in the state yesterday.
The Day will be marked in two segments - the first half being an international poet fest which will feature poets like Indu Prabha from Assam, Dushyant Bhattarai, Bindu Dahal, Tilashri Timsina, Sandesh Subba from Nepal, and Sikkimese poets like Sudha M Rai, Bhim Rawat and Pravin Rai Jumeli, along with other poets from Dooars, Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
Gopal Yonjon Smriti Saanjh in the evening will close the celebration showcasing Ram Krishna Dhakal along with artists from the state, Darjeeling and Kalimpong paying tribute to the legendary singer.
Prominent singer Ram Krishna Dhakal arrived in Gangtok yesterday and addressed a press conference today, sharing, “It's been almost 19 years since I have been here and I am very happy and excited to be part of such an amazing event featuring artists and poets.”
About the musical giant the evening is devoted to, he said, “Gopal Yonjon, whom I have been listening to since my childhood and early career days, has left an explosive amount of encouragement in me and I am very glad to be part of the Yonjon Smriti Saanjh where I will be performing songs from my albums along with some of the eternal songs by artists like Late Gopal Yonjon and Narayan Gopal.”
He also delved on the struggles and hardships he went through to reach the milestone he has achieved today, the amount of inspiration he sourced from artists like Lata Mangeskar and Gopal Yonzon.
Mr Dhakal’s last visit to Sikkim was back in the year 2000 when he performed at Vajra Cinema Hall.
He also spoke about his forthcoming works.
