Users seek reformed SADA

Gangtok, 26 Jun:

Sikkim Drug Users Forum organised a signature campaign, ‘Support. Don’t Punish’ here at MG Marg on Wednesday as part of a global advocacy campaign calling for drug policies based on health and human rights.

“26th June marks the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Historically, this date has been used by governments to showcase ‘progress’ in drug control in highly punitive terms. The Global Day of Action seeks to reclaim and shift that day’s narrative,” stated SDUF coordinator, Prashant Sharma.

Sikkim Drug Users Forum has expressed its belief in the newly formed Government here to reform the Sikkim Anti Drug Act in a way that it protects human rights and promotes wellbeing and public health.
