CM attends thanks-giving ceremony by DSA


Gangtok, 01 Jul:

Chief Minister,Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) attended a thanks-giving ceremony organised by Denzong Sherpa Association (DSA) at Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism,Chemchey today, as per an IPR press release. The event was also attended by Deputy Speaker,Sangay Lepcha, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister,BS Panth, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, various other dignitaries and public.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister thanked members of DSA for arranging this thanks giving ceremony for the newGovernment.

He said that under his government the Sherpa as well as people other communities in Sikkim will be provided equal rights and opportunities. Sikkim will set a benchmark in preserving communal harmony, he added.

The CM stated that his cabinet is an amalgamation of intellect from various sections of the society including the Sherpa community.

On HydelPower Projects in Sikkim, the CM said that strict action and proper enquiry is being undertaken with regards to revenue collection and employment generation in these projects.

Sikkim will soon earn the rightful revenue from the hydro projects located in the state as it was the Sikkimese people who gave their land for setting up of these mega projects, he stated.

He also urged the youth to equip themselves with required qualification and experience needed to work at hydro power projects.

Summing up the one month achievement of the State Government, the CM highlighted that a commission for identification of genuine BPL families for formulation of suitable schemes will be set up soon.

Minister Energy and Power Department,MN Sherpa spoke about the “constructive assistance provided by the State Government for the upliftment of the Sherpa community”. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Sherpa community for considering the demands placed by the community.

During the programme, DSA felicitated the Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister and other dignitaries.
