Two Sikkim schools in Top 100 of Atal Tinkering Marathon

Government Senior Secondary School, Namchi, South Sikkim and Government Senior Secondary School, Yangang, South Sikkim, have made it to the top 100 of the Atal Tinkering Marathon for 2018, an IPR press release informs.
The nationwide Marathon was organized under the aegis of Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).The Marathon’s focus is on identifying a problem and developing innovative solutions that align with the National Agenda of creating a New India by 2022.
Out of 1405 entries in 10 categories, the Top 100 entries were selected by NITI AAYOG.
While GovtSr Sec School Namchi participated in the Agritech category, GovtSr Sec School Yangang participated in the Waste Management category.
The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) was set up to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiosity and innovation among young minds. Through the mission, eligible Schools develop Atal Tinkering Laboratory (ATL).
ATL is a work space where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands on do-it-yourself mode and learn/develop innovation skills and Young children will get a chance to work with tools and equipment to understand what, how and why aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
Till date, 27 ATLs have been established in various Government Schools in the State under Atal Innovation Mission.
