Unauthorised’ water supply line disconnected in Namchi SKM functionaries accuse former CM’s family o
Namchi, 09 Jul:
A team of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party workers led by Ganesh Rai and accompanied by officials from Public Health Engineering Department today disconnected the water supply line to “Rose Garden,” a private establishment reportedly belonging to former CM, Pawan Chamling’s wife.
The team contended that the water supply from the reservoir at Char Dham was being drawn by the private establishment without authorization and was diverting supply meant for neighbouring villages of Assangthang, Sorok and Purano Namchi.
Mr Rai, who had contested against Mr Chamling from the Namchi-Singithang constituency in the recently-held elections, while speaking to media persons and the general public, alleged that there were several instances of bureaucrats and families close to Mr Chamling having indulged in such unauthorized diversion and announced that all such “illegal” connections would be disconnected.
Everyone should receive water supply as per established rules and norms, he said.
Namchi, it may be recalled, has been facing water supply problems for a while now.
