SPYF releases third edition of Naya Drishtikon magazine
GANGTOK, 11 Jul:
The third edition of quarterly bilingual literary magazine Naya Drishtikon by Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum [SPYF] was released here at Press Club of Sikkim on Thursday. The function was chaired by poet and writer, TikaBhai, along with senior litterateur of Sikkim, Bijay Kumar Subba and senior journalist and satirist, Bhim Rawat as special guests.
The function also witnessed poetry recitation by young poets of Progressive Students Literary Club, Soreng, West Sikkim. Mary Hangma Subba, Bhawana Sharma, MandiraRawat, Roji Rawat, Milan Rai, Nima LhamuT amang, Istuti Chettri and NB Ghimire recited their respective poems.
Editor of the magazine, Shankar Sharma mentioned that SPYF started this quarterly bilingual literary magazine in Nepali and English two years back but failed to publish it every three months due to certain reasons. However, he expressed his commitment to give continuity by publishing the next three issues with better and more content.
The magazine talks about different issues of the society and provides a platform to young progressive litterateurs, he added.
“We cannot change the society immediately but it is important for us to continue with our works,” said Bijay Bhai. He appreciated young poets of Progressive Students Literary Club, Soreng and encouraged them to continue to write.
Likewise, Bijay Kumar Subba stressed that progressive literature, thoughts and people are needed in the present society. He stated that progressive literature and thoughts should reach every person in order to lead the society towards progress.
Bhim Rawat appreciated the work and initiatives of SPYF members for the betterment of society. He also congratulated and extended best wishes for the release of the third edition of the magazine and further assured to provide all possible support to the magazine.
He encouraged SPYF members to take the magazine to new heights and motivate young writers of the State. He also congratulated young poets of Progressive Students Literary Club, Soreng and encouraged them to continue contributing towards society.
Earlier, the function started with the welcome address by SPYF member, Rupen Karki.
