Poet Cop scoffs at Akshay’s appeal for support
Gangtok, 18 Jul:
Gopal Pathak, terminated from service six years back, came out strongly against ADGP Akshay Sachdeva today, accusing him of holding a vindictive streak and leveraging his position and influence to engineer his removal from service after having served for 16 years as a constable. His apparent crime – writing poetry which did not sit well with Mr Sachdeva.
Mr Pathak, a resident of Rhenock, accused Mr Sachdeva of carrying out politically motivated victimization by picking on him in early 2013 and charging him with breaking police service rules, dabbling in political and civil movements, charges which eventually led to his termination from service.
He insists that the charges were false and claims that his writings were misinterpreted and misrepresented to serve Mr Sachdeva’s plans.
He said that he was convinced to come out with his story in the wake of Mr Sachdeva’s appeal seeking public support for the situation he finds himself in now.
“Mr Sachdeva is facing the consequences of his actions now. Asking for the sympathy of the people is totally unacceptable and ironic,” Mr Pathak said.
