CM salutes soldiers on Kargil Diwas

Gangtok, 25 Jul (IPR): Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang paid tribute and homage to soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil war. In his message on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the CM says, “We are safe because we have our Army keeping us protected each and every moment.”

“On this day, the 26th of July, let us all come together and take inspiration from the valour of our soldiers who took part in operation Vijay to inculcate in us a sense of always contributing towards the development and growth of our state and nation. We salute and forever remain indebted to our brave soldiers and their families,” he adds.

He also conveyed his best wishes to the Indian Army on this memorable day and extended his heartfelt gratitude for their selfless service to the nation and in maintaining peace and security of the country.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every year in honour of Kargil War and marks the successful completion of Operation Vijay. The Kargil war was fought for more than sixty days in 1999.
