Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang [Golay] has dedicated the General Budget 2019-20 to the people of Sikkim. He expressed that the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government has been able to pass a successful budget in the interest of every section of society.
In his vote of thanks on the last day of the assembly session on Friday, the CM stated that the maiden budget of SKM government covers poverty alleviation, public health, social welfare, qualitative education, pure drinking water, power and other areas.
He further added that welfare measures in the interest of government employees, qualitative rural development, building a healthy society and other targets have also been included in this budget.
CM mentioned that the budget has also targeted to make Sikkim loan-free and to improve the financial condition of the State.
He thanked the Ministers and MLAs for their active participation in the discussion and passing of the budget. He thanked the opposition Members, GT Dhungel and Em Prasad Sharma for delivering their responsibility by participating in this constitutional process in the interest of the people. The CM also thanked the Speaker and every individual involved for the successful completion of the Budget Session.
Earlier, in his vote of thanks, Member of the House, Aditya Golay expressed his gratitude to the Governor on behalf of the people of Chakung-Soreng. He thanked the CM for the pro-people budget and the people of Sikkim for giving the mandate to SKM party to run the government.
Likewise, Minister LN Sharma stated that it was a historic budget passed by the SKM government in the interest of the people of Sikkim.
In his valedictory remarks, the Speaker stated that in a democracy, the will of the people and their mandate is supreme and hence the service of the people is the prime duty of a public representative. He said that the Budget passed by the House is dedicated to the service of the people of Sikkim.
He summed up the key proceedings of the Budget Session and expressed his gratitude to everyone for their valuable contribution. He thanked the Governor for his presence on the opening day and for his valuable address to the House.
He also thanked CM for presenting the Annual General Budget of the Government for 2019-20, and other important documents on the floor of the House. The Speaker thanked the Ministers and MLAs for their participation during the proceedings, their questions and deliberations, and for their participation in passing the annual budget. He also thanked and congratulated the Members for the passing of three important Bills in the House.
