SRM University holds induction ceremony for Freshers batch 2019

Gangtok, 07 Aug: Shri Ramaswamy Memorial University organized the induction ceremony of the new Freshers batch 2019 at Manan Kendra today. The event was attended by Education Minister, Kunga Nima Lepcha as the chief guest, Additional Secretary, GP Upadhyaya as the guest of honour, Vice Chancellor, Prof Ch. Satish Kumar along with other various department heads and parents. “We are really grateful to the parents in trusting the pillars of SRM University and letting their children come to us in order to fulfill the desired goals,” said Associate Dean Social Science and Humanities, Manisha Thakuri in her address. While speaking at the event as the chief Guest, KN Lepcha expressed his gratitude and faith on the development of the college and education in the state. He further added that the students must have curiosity to learn and expressed his warm welcome to the freshers and wished them luck for their future endeavours. While addressing the gathering Vice Chancellor, Prof Kumar talked about the history of the university in the state. “When we started the number of students was very low, but constant support from the state government and the people of Sikkim has helped us achieve remarkable milestones in recent years,” he said. He also mentioned about the expansion in courses offered and infrastructure. The college is also focusing on implementing various new initiatives in order to strengthen the relationship between parents and the college, he added. The university presented 22 scholarships to students from around the state. Founder scholarship was provided to 17 students while 2 scholarships were provided to students under employees ward scholarship and 3 scholarships to students facing financial crisis.
