Sikkim Govt writes to MHA against opening of sacred peaks

The State Government has written to the Home Secretary, Government of India to withdraw the decision to open 24 peaks in Sikkimfor mountaineering/trekking, as per an IPR release.The CM has also written a letter to the Home Minister, Government of India to immediately de-list the 14 sacred peaks, which are already notified by the State Government as such.
The Chief Secretary, AK Shrivastava informed the Chief Minister about the letter today in a meeting held at Tashiling Secretariat with the CM, Minister for Ecclesiastical Department, Home Secretary and Tourism Secretary. The CS informed that the letter has already been issued to the Home Secretary, Government of India to withdraw the decision to open 24 peaks in Sikkimfor mountaineering/trekkingwhich is of grave concern to the Government and the people of Sikkim. The Government has also spoken to the authorities of the Ministry of Home Affairs about the issue which is being resolved by the Ministry, the release informs.
TheCM along with the EcclesiasticalMinister may call on the Union Home Minister to follow up on the issue, the release mentions.
