Aakraman and Unicorn register wins in Sikkim League

Gangtok, 27 Aug:

Sikkim Aakraman Football Club registered its second consecutive victory at the ongoing Premier Division Sikkim League here at Paljor Stadium on Tuesday.

Playing its second match of the league, Aakraman outplayed Kumar Sporting Football Club 4-nil to pocket three points.

With the help of Dewasish George Rai’s goal in the 15th minute, Sikkim Aakraman FC ended the first half 1-0 ahead. Shortly into the second half, Sonam Tshering extended the lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute.

While Kumar Sporting FC players were struggling to bounce back into the match, Dawa Sherpa extended the goal margin in the 89th minute and another goal by his teammate, Lochen Basnett in injury time sealed a 4-0 victory for Sikkim Aakraman FC.

In the second match of the day, a brace by Rapgay Lepcha helped Unicorn Football Club down United Sikkim Football Club 2-1.

Rapgay Lepcha snatched the lead for Unicorn FC in the dying minutes of the first half and completed his brace upon return from the drinks break in the 70th minute.

The match gained some interest when Pelsang Lama scored for United Sikkim FC in the 72nd minute in a fluid counter attack. This, however, proved too little too late and when the final whistle blew, Unicorn FC romped home with three full points.
