A high-level meeting of Sikkim Democratic Front party was held here at the party headquarters on Thursday chaired by former Minister, DD Bhutia, and attended by former Ministers, MLAs, Advisors and Chairpersons of the party.
An SDF press release issued by its general secretary [press & publicity], Chudamani Mishra, informs that the meeting discussed the present political situation in the State and deliberated on the various weaknesses and future programmes of the party.
In conclusion, three resolutions were passed unanimously.
The former Minster, MLAs, MP and Advisor and Chairman expressed their gratitude towards the SDF party and its President, Pawan Chamling, and passed a thanksgiving resolution for having accorded them the opportunity to serve the State and the people for the past 26 years.
The meeting also resolved that although SDF MLAs have joined other parties, the party itself would continue to work in the interest of the people of Sikkim under the leadership of Mr Chamling.
The meeting has also passed a resolution that SDF would now work more strongly and more actively to implement the pro-people policies and principles of SDF and humanitarian and democratic thought and vision of Mr Chamling in the service of Sikkim and its people.
The release informs that in his address, DD Bhutia mentioned that SDF under the stable leadership of Mr Chamling has evolved into the largest regional party in the country and has made historic contributions to Sikkim in its 25 years in government.
He stressed that the party should not panic over the recent political developments in the State and have faith in Mr Chamling’s leadership. He stressed that SDF and its leader were in great form and appealed to all party workers to work more responsibly.
Earlier, former MLA Am Prasad Sharma, former Minister DB Thapa, former Speaker KN Rai, former Minister Somnath Poudyal, former Chairman Nima Theeng, former Minister Rinzing Ongmu Bhutia, former MLA Dorjee Namgyal Bhutia, former Minister AS Baraily, former Chairman PK Gurung, former Speaker Kalawati Subba, former MLA Ugen Nedup Bhutia, former Deputy Speaker, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, former Minister, GM Gurung and others placed their thoughts and suggestions, the release adds.
