Sikkimese filmmaker begins shooting for Hindi serial

Gangtok, 04 Sept:

Award winning film director TribenyRai from Sikkim has started shooting a Hindi serial of 13 episodes for Doordarshan Arunprabha channel. She is making the Hindi serial based on a script for children.

The shooting started at Nandok village from 03 September. She is planning to wrap up the shooting within a month’s time and then do post-production before submitting to Arunprabha channel.

The shooting will be mostly done in Nandok, Ranipool, Assam Lingzey and Gangtok. All the cast members are local actors. The crew is also mostly local with only few hired from outside for technical work. 
“We are starting our shoot today. This is a 13-episode serial and a commissioned programme for Arunprabha channel which is for Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Majority of my crew comprises of local talent, main characters are two kids Abhishek Rai and Chitiz Rai. Hopefully we will wrap up the shooting in a month’s time.” said TribenyRai.
The main protagonists are played by Chitiz Rai (14), a student from United Academy, Daramdin and AbhishekRai (14) from Nandok, near Ranipool.

ChitizRai expressed his happiness in taking part in the serial.

“Lots of excitement is there but I am also nervous. I have acted in plays but this is the first time acting in a serial. I have been learning Hindi since childhood. I was interested in acting since childhood,” said Chitiz.

“The story is written by national award winning Director, Pradip Kurbah from Shillong. It is about two brothers who migrate from a rural village to an urban setup,” said Tribeny.
Tribeny Rai’s short films have been featured in several national and international film festivals. She recently participated in the 2019 Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) at Tehran. 
Tribeny hails from Nandok, near Ranipool and is a product of the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata.
