ICFAI Univ convocation celebrates graduation of 382 students

Gangtok, 09 Sept:

The 12th convocation ceremony of ICFAI University, Sikkim, was held here at Chintan Bhawan today.

A total of 382 graduating students were awarded degrees at the event declared open by ICFAI Chancellor Ram Pal Kaushik. Five gold and five silver medals were also conferred on students who excelled in academics.

Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, was slated to attend as the chief guest but could not owing to ill health. His message was however delivered through live video conferencing from Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s convocation message was read out by Director [Branding], Sudhakar Rao, ICFAI University.

Addressing the convocation, Education Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha, who was present as special guest, remarked that it Sikkim was proud to ICFAI University here and that the institute has gained substantial recognition for their impressive work in education and other fields.

A large number of students are now enrolling in ICAFI University which reflects the popularity of the institute, he said.

“It’s good to see that the ICFAI University is operating full swing providing education in different disciplines. I wholeheartedly wish the institution the very best to reach the pinnacle,” he said.

The Minister also assured to extend all help required to resolve admission problems if some should surface.

Similarly, Deputy Speaker Sangay Lepcha, expressed happiness on seeing the advances made by ICFAI University and shared that the institution was important to State of Sikkim.

Additional Chief Secretary, GP Upadhyaya, Chancellor, RP Kaushik, ICFAI University, Chairman, Jaipur Foot USA, Prem Bhandari, Vice Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Avinash Rai Khanna, Registrar IUS, Dr Rabindra Chhetri was also present along with families of graduation students from Bhutan.
