The JICA-aided Sikkim Biodiversity Conservation & Forest Management Project (SBFP) being implemented by Forest & Environment Department, participated in the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) in Surat, Gujarat from 06 to 08 September 2019 was represented by the Ecotourism Management Cell (EMC) which showcased the various ecotourism products developed through the SBFP intervention.
Sikkim Ecotourism was conferred the Most Exclusive Leisure Product award which was received by the EMC team comprising of Manager (PR, Event & Festival) Kesang P Bhutia, Manager (Products & Sales), Barsha Sharma, Assistant Manager (Products & Sales), Meenu Dahal and Assistant Manager (PR, Event & Festival), Chogyal Bhutia.
TTF is India's leading exhibition for the travel and tourism industry which provides an annual opportunity for organisations from India and abroad to showcase their products and services. TTF events present a marketing opportunity for exhibitors to connect directly with the largest gathering of prospective travellers and members of the travel industry.
Currently, there are 11 notified Ecotourism Zones in Sikkim around the eight protected areas (i.e. National Parks and Sanctuaries) where ecotourism activities are being implemented in an organized manner by Joint Forest Management & Eco-development Committees through the JICA aided SBFP project, a press release informs.
