Residential sports academy for girls to be established in Soreng

Soreng, 12 Sept [IPR]: Chief Minister PS Tamang [Golay] visited various places in Soreng-Chakung constituency today. Upon arrival, he was accorded a warm welcome by the officers, employees and the people of the constituency led by the area MLA, his son, Aditya Golay, and the Political Secretary Jacob Khaling.

A short coordination meeting was convened with the Sports & Youth Affairs Department at Chakung Playground where the following points were discussed and finalized:

1. State level girls’ residential sports academy to be established at Soreng.

2. "Khel Mahakumbh" to be organised at State Level in the year 2020.

3. Chakung ground to be developed under "Khelo India" project.

4. Interschool sports tournaments to be organised during vacations.

5. All sports-related extracurricular activities at schools which are usually conducted under Education Department will now be transferred to Sports & Youth Affairs Department.

6. Tourism oriented activities to be included during L. D. Kazi Gold Cup tournament.

The Chief Minister then interacted with the people of the locality at Hingwa Tar picnic sport.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of LD Kazi Gold Cup Football tournament and its historical value.

Youth-oriented programmes are to be included through tourism activities during the tournament, he added.

Concerned about the youth of the locality, he suggested that contractors include local youth as per their capacity at the time of infrastructure development works.

He also informed the gathering that most of the recommendations could be done by the area MLA and the people needn't approach the Chief Minister for each and every work. Only the mandatory matters be submitted to the Chief Minister, it was directed.

He also commented that individuals were personally appearing before him for all category medical aid and grant applications. In this context, he apprised that a medical assistance team has been constituted comprising of Administrators, Doctors and the Party Executive members who not only receive applications but also pursue the file till its successful outcome. Hence he urged the people to use the Medical Team and facility provided for the poor, sick and deserving people.

The CM then visited Chakung Science College and interacted with the Principal, Sudhan Pradhan, and the staff and students.

The Chief Minister listened patiently to the grievances placed by the Principal, staff and students and assured to render all necessary support for smooth running of the college and wellbeing of the employees concerned.

In the evening, the Chief Minister inspected the site for construction of Science College and other institutions within the BAC.

The Chief Minister also visited the Samaj Ghar constructed under the auspices of Chakung Raigaon Association.

The Chief Minister then interacted with the people of the locality till late in the night.
