Gangtok, 18 Sept:
Five singers from Sikkim have made it past the mega audition round of North East Idol 2019 held on 14 September at Guwahati in Assam.
Out of 14 singers participating from Sikkim in the mega audition round, Babita Thapa, Pritam Rai, Anup Tamang, Sisir Thatal and Suraj Sewa impressed judges enough to book a place in top-20 of the competition.
A total of 57 contestants from eight north-eastern states had participated in the auditions. The show has Indian Idol Amit Paul, James Nambam and Remanti Rai as judges.
Addressing a press conference here today, Ms Rai, who is also the joint secretary of North East Idol 2019, shared that it was a great achievement for the five singers and informed that 60 aspiring singers from Sikkim had taken part in the Sikkim auditions held on 26 August from whom 20 were shortlisted for the mega audition round.
The state audition had Remanti Rai, Manoj Rai and Sudhir Singh as judges.
Ms Rai informs that the grand finale of North East Idol 2019 is scheduled for 10 November.
