Governor flags off relief team for Yuksam
Gangtok, 23 Sept:
Governor, Ganga Prasad today flagged off a team carryingrelief material for landslide victims of Yuksam, West Sikkim, a Raj Bhavan release informs.
Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, Minister Education, Land Revenue & DM, Youth and Sports Affairs Departments, Kunga Nima Lepcha, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor, Dr K Jayakumar and State Relief Commissioner, Ambika Pradhan were present on the occasion.
The Governor also handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the landslide victims.
The relief materials were dispatched today in a special vehicle carrying eatables, 100 blankets, 175 metres synthetic profile mat, ready to eat foot packets, noodles, portable water bottles, juice and biscuits among others.
The Governor has also appealed to fellow Sikkimese from all walks of life to come forward and donate in cash and kind as assistance for our brethren in distress at Yuksam. He has stated that Sikkimese society has always shown resilience when it comes to coping with natural calamities of this magnitude.
“Once again this is high time to come together for showing solidarity and support to our brothers and sisters in distress and also prove that in this hour of crisis, the whole State is firmly behind them,” the Governor added.
