Gangtok, 23 Sept:
The Managing Director, Sikkim State Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation Limited (SIMFED), PawanAwasthy along with other officials called on Chief Minister, PS Tamangtoday at his residence and handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the landslide victims of Tsong village of Yuksom, West Sikkim, as per a press release.
Tsong village was hit by a landslide on 16 Sept causing severe damage to property and livestock.
Also present on the occasion were Political Secretary to Chief Minister, Jacob Khaling and Secretary to Chief Minister, SDDhakal.
SIMFED which is an Apex Marketing Cooperative Society involved in the marketing of Agriculture & Horticulture produce of the state has also diversified its business and is presently undertaking implementation of Organic farming projects across the country involving more than 70,000 farmers and covering around 56,000 hectare area in 16 states.
SIMFED has bagged the prestigious World Bank project on formation of Farmers Producers Organisations as well as Farmers Producers Companies (FPOs/ FPCs) in the state of Assam. SIMFED has ambitious plans to spread the Organic certification projects all over the country.
