Finance Commission Chairperson voices concern over road conditions
Gangtok, 24 Sept (IPR):
The Chairperson 15th Finance Commission, N.K Singh called on the Chief Minister, P S Tamang [Golay] in his office at Tashiling Secretariat here in the state capital today.
After exchanging the pleasantries, the Chairperson expressed his deep concern about the present road condition between Sevoke – Rangpo, however he expressed his satisfaction and said that Rangpo – Gangtok road condition is far better.
The two road stretches are been looked after by West Bengal and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) owned company of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways respectively.
The Chief Minister, PS Tamang informed the Chairperson, NK Singh that he has already expressed his concern over the poor road conditions and written to the Home Ministry and also raised the issue in the recently concluded North East Council meeting in Guwahati.
The Chairperson also assured that he will also raise this issue of bad road conditions with the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, NitinGadkari and also with the Chairperson of National Highway Authority.
