Guwahati-Bangkok flight takes off

Gangtok, 24 Sept:

Chief Minister of Assam,Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the first International Flight from Guwahati to Bangkok operated by Nok Air, a Premium Budget Airline from Thailand on 22 Sept, 2019.

This flight will open doors for tourism not only for Guwahati and Bangkok but also beyond to the entire South East Asia for purposes of Business and Leisure alike. This flight will operate from Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, twice weekly. 

Subsequently a press conference was held in Novotel Hotel, Guwahati by Nok Air and Group Concorde. The conference began with Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijijuji, who inaugurated the flight by lighting the lamp. Other dignitaries like Principal Secretary Ministry of Tourism, Ramesh Prasad, Govt of Assam, CCO of Nok Air, Thaveechai and CMD of Group Concorde, Pukhraj Singh Chug were also present at the event. 

The introductory speech was given by the Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, KirenRijijuji, who spoke at great length about the need to increase Tourism in the North- Eastern region along with the need to develop the infrastructure to increase the holding capacity of tourists. 

Chairman and Managing Director of Group Concorde, Pukhraj Singh Chug also spoke about his personal connect with North East and his dream to connect North East to the world and work towards the successful completion of starting the flights. CCO of Nok Air, Thaveechai also gave a brief history about the airline and about his vision of connecting Bangkok to India, in order to boost tourism for both the countries. 

The conference concluded with an interactive and informative question and answer session where queries of the tour operators and media personnel’s were answered precisely. The panel was chaired by Principal Secretary – Ministry of Tourism, CMD Group Concorde, CCO Nok Air and Airport Director of Guwahati Mr. Ramesh Kumar. The press conference was followed by a networking lunch for the invitees. 

The flight to Bangkok leaves every Wednesday and Saturday while the flight to Guwahati from Bangkok leaves every Thursday and Sunday.
