Gangtok, 24 Sept:
Teesta-IV Hydroelectric Project of NHPC organised a free multi-speciality medical and awareness camp at Chandey in association with District Hospital, Mangan and support of paramedical staff of PHC, Passingdong, today.
The intervention was part of its CSR initiatives under the health & sanitation sector to provide sustainable healthcare as per the requirement of the area.
A detailed baseline survey of the entire GPU was also conducted by Teesta-IV HEP with the help of Self Help Groups covering a period of two months.
The medical camp was organized based on the findings of the survey, at Chandey under Tingchim Chandey GPU.
A team of doctors from the North District Hospital - Dr Upasana Gurung (Psychiatry), Dr JT Wangdi (Medicine), Dr Suren Tamang (Ortho), Dr Sudipta Rai (Gynaecology), Dr Roshan Poudyal (Paediatrics), Dr TT Bhutia (ENT) along with NHPC doctors were present to attend to the patients.
The NCDCST team, Mangan, carried out blood sugar monitoring. An awareness programme by the ITC Cell, Mangan, on, “Health & Hygiene and Alcohol & Drug Abuse” was also organised during the camp.
154 patients were attended to today. The prescribed medicines were arranged by NHPC and distributed free of cost to the patients.
The medical camp was inaugurated by General Manager, Ramesh Mukhiya, Teesta-IV HE Project, in the presence of panchayat members of Tingchim Chandey GPU and officials from NHPC and local residents.
