Gangtok, 30 Sept:
The State Government relieved Chairman Sikkim Commission of Backward Classes, TN Sharma from his charge under Section 4 sub-section 3(p).
Mr Sharma was appointed as the Chairman on 20 June 2018 vide Notification 33/Home/2018.
Earlier this month on 07 September, he was served notice on a complaint filed by a resident of Gangtok for violating rules and defaming the institution while holding the quasi-judicial post. Mr Sharma was accused of being actively involved in politics as an active member of the then ruling party.
A day before he demitted his office after attaining the age of superannuation, Chief Secretary, AK Shrivastava on 29 Sept, 2019, signed the order relieving him from the post of Chairman after holding an enquiry.
It is learnt that TN Sharma has not filed his response to the notice despite ample time being provided to him.
