After 2 withdrawals, 15 left in the fray for by-polls
Gangtok, 03 Oct:
After withdrawal of candidature, fifteen candidates are now in the fray for By-Elections in three Assembly Constituencies of the State. Today was the last day for withdrawal of candidatures and two candidates from Martam-Rumtek withdrew their nominations. Earlier, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha’s dummy candidate for Poklok-Kamrang, KB Rai’s nomination was set aside after PS Tamang’s nomination was accepted.
Today, Sonam Tashi Bhutia and Chewang Dadul Bhutia who had filed nomination papers as Independent candidates for Martam–Rumtek constituency withdrew their candidature in the office of Returning Officer, Raj Yadav.
The Returning Officer informed that six candidates are now in the fray for Martam-Rumtek Assembly constituency after the withdrawal of two candidates.
The number of candidates for Gangtok Assembly constituency remains the same with six nominations and no withdrawal.
In Poklok-Kamrang there were no withdrawals so there are three candidates for the constituency.
Also, a meeting of the Returning Officer [East] with the contesting candidates has been scheduled at 11:00 AM at DAC Sichey on 04 Oct.
